Denver/Nova
Holy cow what a beat down that was! I don’t think anyone saw 22-6 coming! Ethan Walker, a Canadian from Peterborough, ON scored 8 goals and is leading Division I with 38 for the season in ten games. I’m going to have to go back and watch this dismantling on demand….Just to see the precision of Denver. This is the Pioneers at their best: 27/30 on face offs, shooting 51%, giving up 6 goals on 34 shots, ridiculous ball control, and physical team defense resulting in 6 goals and 7 saves. Wow! Is there a better tandem than Bill Tierney and Matt Brown? These guys show the world how to coach lacrosse!
Summer of 2013
Speaking of Ethan Walker, in the summer of 2013 we launched 3d Canada, a club team made up of the best ’97’s and...

UNC-Duke
A great “Happy Hour” game last night, played in front of the biggest crowd ever for a Duke Lacrosse game. I wanted the Heels to win so badly! There’s something about a Friday night game that me so happy too! After a hard week of busting your butt, it’s so great to be able to sit down and watch a high level college lacrosse game to kick of “A Lacrosse Weekend!" The Heels probably did enough good things to win that game, but in the end they had a few too many give aways. Duke grinded out a good W, were opportunistic at times but also had the best player on the field in Justin Gutterding. How about that kid scoring his 300th point last night? And he still has a bunch more games in his career!
UNC-Duke Part 2
I thought Quint K and Anish were very good...

Spring Break
For many across the country it’s spring break lacrosse time! I’m currently in Orange County as the Tar Heels are taking on the Terrapins at 7pm tonight an event hosted by long time lacrosse coach and legend, GW Mix. GW is in many ways The Godfather of lacrosse in Orange County and has put on this great event for 5 years dating back to when his son played for ND. Funny story, GW actually picked me up at the airport in October 1984 for my Official Visit to U Penn when he was an assistant coach there under Tony Seaman. GW went on to be the HC of Penn before moving on to a successful sports marketing career. GW was the founder of Champ Camp, which was the first of it’s kind big tourneys in the world of summer recruiting and has been a successful HS coach at Corona Del Mar HS....

Albany/Vermont
With 2 of the last 3 undefeated teams going head to head, it’s an America East showdown! And speaking of the America East, how ‘bout them Retrievers with the upset over Virginia last night! Back to lacrosse. Chris Feifs, 2nd year Head Coach of Vermont is truly one of the best guys in the sport...sincere, caring, hard working, smart…. as good a dude as you’ll meet. I’m hoping for the upset, but it's going to be a tall order for Vermont if last year’s blowout is any indication. With the way Albany can win face offs, Vermont may not get much of a chance to take advantage of the Albany defense.
Virginia/Notre Dame
Can Virginia win their first ACC game since the 2014 season today? This should be a fun game to watch with the run and gun...
This is my first installment of the “A Lacrosse Weekend” newsletter. What’s it all about? I will be writing each week - a compilation of lacrosse: thoughts, ideas, history, stories, myths/truths. I hope you find it interesting!
I love spring! Is there anything better than setting the clocks ahead?! Life is so much better when it stays light, the birds are chirping in the morning, lacrosse is on TV and our kids are playing! We have a big lax weekend in the Munro household - Oregon won their first PAC 12 game ever last night against Cal, UNC plays Hofstra in a match up that always gives the heels fits, and ThunderRidge HS plays Ralston Valley. Plus it’s as good of a NCAA lacrosse weekend as you can have. I’m trying to get a game of “Street Box” going this weekend too. Let me know if you want to play!
Albany/Maryland
I’m so interested to see this match up. Can the Terps defend this Albany team? If any team can do it,...
